Ingrown toenails can cause a lot of pain and discomfort in your everyday life. At Mark Foster Podiatry, we carry out corrective nail surgery that may help alleviate this discomfort. First, the side or sides of the nail that are ingrowing are removed under local anaesthetic. A chemical called phenol is applied to the nail matrix to prevent regrowth. The advantage of this process is that, cosmetically, a nail remains that is visible, but comfortable.

The patient is seen for weekly re-dressings until the healing is complete. Usually, this takes approximately 1 month, from start to finish, but some cases vary according to the individual patient. This procedure at offered at Birmingham only.
