Podiatrist and Chiropodist in the West Midlands
After graduating from Birmingham School of Podiatry in 2000 with First Class Honours I immediately began building my private practice with an accent upon Biomechanics but still sticking with the core principles of Clinical Podiatry – routine Chiropody, Wound Care and Minor Surgery for the treatment of ingrowing toenails under local anaesthetic.
Along the way, I worked in the NHS as “Chief 3” Podiatrist in charge of the Biomechanics Department at Dudley South PCT, (As it was then), for 3 years. Following this, a brief spell in London making Orthotics for skiers at Snow and Rock and during all of this time, I was also teaching Orthotics manufacture back at the School of Podiatry and still keeping my private work going! I was a busy boy.
Something had to give and so about 4 years ago I decided to commit to private practice and I now work full time and exclusively on a private basis. This is based largely across two sites. First, The Droitwich Knee Clinic in Worcestershire, where I provide a Biomechanics/Orthotics service for the Orthopaedic Consultants and Physiotherapists. Second, at 81 Harborne Road in Edgbaston, Birmingham where I have a more general clinic providing the full range of Podiatric Clinical and Biomechanical services.
As time has gone by, I have added to my core skills with Podiatric Acupuncture, Joint Mobilisation of the Lower Limb and Bowen Therapy. I love my job. It provides constant fascination and has taken me on courses all over the place – even as far as Australia! But for me, my reasons for doing this job are the same today as they were when I decided to train as a Podiatrist all those years ago. Being able to go home at the end of a day and know that my patients feel better because of what I have done is all the reason I need.
